Curriculum Intent Statement
At St Pius X, our Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) provision is broad and balanced and enables learners to study the full curriculum, which fulfils the National Curriculum requirements to help children to develop to their full potential both educationally but also in matters of spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Our learning in this subject is based upon the key teachings of our faith, centred around our core Gospel Values. Our learning in MFL helps children to understand that there are different people in the world with different languages and cultures and that all should be treated equally and loved. Our teaching and enrichment activities enable all learners to gain the knowledge, skills and cultural capital they need to succeed in life, widening their horizons and giving them the confidence to explore internationally as they grow older. Our curriculum is coherently planned, sequenced and has rigorous progression towards cumulatively sufficient knowledge and skills for future learning. It provides many exciting and creative learning opportunities all the way through the school from Nursery to Year 6. Our curriculum is designed to be ambitious and meet the needs of all our pupils.
